HELP! Advice needed for my 2D video game?

So I'm making the game Bricks in OpenGL (where the ball bounces around the screen breaking bricks on the ceiling and a paddle hits the ball up)





I want to make bricks and balls with special abilities (like when you hit them something happens).





For example, bricks that break after several hits, or bricks that make the ball go slower, or bricks that add another ball to the game, etc.





Be as creative as possible. But not too far fetched. ThanksHELP! Advice needed for my 2D video game?
a lot of the time most game designers will have power ups and bonus points come out of a broken brick, or maybe put level warps just to shake it up a little bit.
