you could not pay me to allow a 13 year old to watch my children. Not in this lifetime. How can you take care of kids? Who would help them with their homework, surely not you considering you cannot spell. I think it is a bad idea. But hey if you want to do it, by all means proceed.13 yr old daycare in summer 2009! ADVICE??? HELP?
it's illegal for you to run a daycare. most parents prefer to have the babysitter come to their own home because the child is more comfortable there. they have their toys food, their bed there. try putting fliers up around your neighborhood.
First, you might want to take a CPR class and a first aid class. Something like that.

Check your states laws on day cares and stuff
Honestly, I'd never trust a 13 year old with my son.

I only get sitters that are 16+.
hey i'm 13 too but my mom won't let me have more than 2-3 kids babysitting, i think you should get some licenses this summer and when ur 14 u can do it, it's gonna be esier and better for uand the kids, but you can baybsit like 1-2 @ a time but not like more then 5, i think u should get a cpr(i think that's what it is) and like first aid license so the parents know that if the kids lets say eat their poo (gross i know but happens) u know what to do...and have proof that u do no. u do need a clean carpet room and u can't have more then 5 kids @ atime because it's illigal and u don't wanne get i trouble and it'll b in ur record foreve!(i know the babysitting business is illigal but steel) and because it's gonna b 2 much, and there are babysitting classes in every state...%26amp; like ask a q like what r some babysitting classes 4 a 13 year old...and i think it is a good idea if u really like it, another thing like that u cn do is like walking people's pets during summer...and u can make flyers on microsoft publisher adn print them and put them on like trees or walls or stuff like that, and u can like put it on a trget store or sometihng, or like ya! and prices shoudl be like $10/hour or mayb less, like 5 mayb it depends in how many hours so like say 1-2hour(S)-$10 2-5 hour(s)-$5...u know
You can't open a daycare center at 13. It is illegal. You can only babysit. Put up flyers saying you are a summer nanny and will care for kids in their home.

Edit: I have no idea what Maddie is talking about. $15 an HOUR for a 13 year old to watch your kid? A licensed home daycare run by a licensed adult that feeds children wholesome state funded meals charge as little as $25 per DAY in some areas. There is no way on earth I would pay a young teen $15/hr to watch my child. Dream on.

The bottom line is the LAW says you cannot ';babysit'; multiple unrelated kids in your home. That is a daycare, even if you call it babysitting. You cannot run a child care center at 13. It is illegal. Period.
I understand that you enjoy watching children so how about helping at a camp? It is actually more fun than watching them at home. You can do more with them. I worked at a camp for five years and loved working with kids. That way you do not have to worry about a license or anyother problems.

Plus you get to have fun and show responsibility and start your resume at the same time.

Just an idea:-)
You sound really responsible, so I think it's a good idea. Just make sure you portray to the parents of children that you are responsible and can do this.

I'd say for prices that you should go equal by hour. As this would be more difficult than babysitting just one or two children, it should be more expensive. However, since you're just starting out, keep it cheap. I'd recommend around 15 dollars an hour.

Good luck!
