Traveling to C h i n a next summer, advice/help! ?

I have decided rather randomly and without much background knowledge ,that i would really rather fancy traveling to and around china next summer with my boyfriend.

We are both students, so would be financing it via part time jobs over the next year, not bothered about posh hotels etc..

Traveling from Gatwick / Heathrow Airport, for as long as possible 2-3-(4?) weeks.

I'd really like to see Pandas, and other wildlife, preferably in the wild, also rural places, amazing landscapes etc, rural culture, a big city or two, maybe that big wall .. :P

Can anyone that has been to,or is knowledgeable on, travels to china tell me .. ..

1) Are there any websites/specialists, etc that you would recommend booking with?

2) Is it best to do the traveling around china as part of a packaged holiday, or just fly there and wing it?

3) How expensive would it be (拢) for food accommodation etc?

Is it best to just book a full board holiday .. or a tour thing.

4) What parts of china would be best ?

5) Anything else that would help ..

Please answer even if you only have something to say about one of the above questions .. every little helps. :p

(Humph, a little speech bubble just told me i had a lot of punctuation, what a monkey !)

Thanks for your help !!

My advice is to take any Country off your list that is now commiting horrific crimes against it's people, like China.

It's sad that Countries will not embargo/boycott China because we have become addicted to the manufacture of cheap imports. It's like who cares what happens behind that red curtain, as long as they serve up our needs. It is terrible that people don't care. Traveling to C h i n a next summer, advice/help! ?
I would have chosen Kevin for best answer.

America commits horrific crimes against its people too, with horrendous displays of political bias and inequality. Disrespecting many races, religions and ideologies for the sake of 'the american dream'.

Jump of your media band wagon.

What i primarily want to go to china for is for the landscape and the wildlife

that was there way before the media decided it was 'cool' to suddenly notice the breach of human rights that happens all over the world .

Take a mask, air purifier. Don't talk to anyone about the Bible or Tibet. Oh yeah, make sure you visit Tiananmen Square where there were thousands of young students/ppl killed in protests of 1989!! Real FUN!!
I have kept a site providing tour booking reservation and travel information of China. I hope it would help solve your problems. Good luck!
You can visit the website below
My favorite places to visit:

Xi'an. The city was the Capital of China for many years before Beijing, and has a lot of cultural history. Qin Shi Huang Di (the first emperor of China) lived in Xi'an and that is where you can find the Terra Cotta Warriors which are quite a sight to behold.

Tibet. Whether or not you want to consider it part of China, it's spectacular to see. It's very different from the overcrowded Eastern part of China, and a different culture altogether. With the relatively new railway from mainland China, you can take the train rather than needing to fly. It would be a long ride, though.

Beijing. Beijing also has many historical sites to see. I don't like it as well as Xi'an, but it's still a must-see. You can tour the Great Wall, Forbidden City/Tian'anmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Ming Tombs, Summer Palace, and historic Hutong (the older part of the city that shows the way homes used to be built).

There are plenty of other smaller places that would be fun to see, but for only a summer you can't get everywhere. As far as tickets, the earlier you book them, the cheaper they'll be. I don't know if you can use this agency from the UK, but I have used this site http://www.pacplace.com/ and gotten very good rates. They also take care of your visa for you, which is handy because China requires that someone go to an Embassy/Consulate to deliver the application in person, and I live far from the nearest consulate. I hope this helps.
Here is a good website that u can get enough information u want to know about China, there are a lot of Chinese here, well, including me :), I dont know how to answer your questions, but i know wherever u go, the preparation and money are both important, well, u could find that things here in some places are cheaper than u can imagine, and as to the best parts, i went to college in Dalian, and now i live in Beijing, i love both of them, although on your first eyes u would say they are so different, the former one is a modern seaside city, the other one is more famous for its culture and history, it depends on what attract u most. I hope this could help u a little.
